Own It, Fix It

Daily writing prompt
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I ever got was simple: if you make a mistake, say so right away. Say it first and you take away the power of gossip and blame. Honesty shuts down the whispering. But owning it isn’t the end. Come with a fix. Admit what happened, then show how you’ll make it right. That moves things from accusation to action. It shows you respect other people’s time, that you’re accountable, and that you lead by doing the work. People might not love the mistake, but they’ll remember how you cleaned it up. Do this enough and real trust grows, folks know you’ll be straight with them, and mistakes stop being a weapon and become a way to learn.
