Hildegard von Bingen’s music, I always return to it. She was a German head of convent from the 12th century (born 1098, died 1179): a poet, composer, mystic, visionary, and artist. Her work is timeless and deeply healing to me. She wrote what the angels gave. Her compositions heal the spirit, bless the soul, and awaken the human. Every chant carries light and devotion. I’m so grateful for her work and find listening to her compositions profoundly cleansing.
“Now a closed gate has opened for us,
that which the serpent once choked in the woman;
therefore shines in the dawn
the flower sprung from the Virgin Mary.”
