Lithium

I’d just discovered Lithium on Nevermind.

The sun was out, window open, and we sat on your bedroom floor
taking in the music together.
We traded songs we knew of,
our relationship still young.

We had kissed by then.
I sat across from you
and came up with a ploy to kiss some more.

It was silly.
Don’t move, I told you.
I bet you can’t help it and kiss me back,
as I french kissed the hell out of you.

My tongue exploring your mouth,
you tried to stay still.
Laughed,
and we thoroughly enjoyed our youth
like we were meant to in that moment—

even if the shadows began to fall soon after again,
I remember sitting on your lap,
my skirt wrapped around my legs,
as if I were proper,
and holding your face still
to have my way with you.
