Jasmine on the Grave

Daily writing prompt
Tell us about the last thing you got excited about.

Creating my blog from scratch has been one of the most exciting parts of my journey lately. I love feeling out how I want it to live and thrive, shaping a home for my words, devotion, and spirit. The creative process itself excites me. I enjoy the flow, the spark of inspiration, and equally the challenge of slowing myself down. Moving too quickly risks skipping over the subtler moments of inspiration, and I do not want to miss those. Patience becomes part of the art, and in that patience I find joy.

It is fun to envision, to hope, to dream, and to give of myself. I love learning the tools, choosing the colors, and deciding on the overall vibe. I went for a slight Southern Gothic feel. My grandmother, may she rest in peace, has been around lately and she was from the South, so I was very much co-creating this space with her. She also wrote poetry.

I loved the moment my blog name came to me. I was thinking of how sweet life is, how beautiful, and how death sharpens that sweetness, reminding us to cherish everything more fully. Jasmine has always been one of my favorite scents, and it is often used in ceremony and ritual. I also love exploring cemeteries and graveyards, so the pairing came naturally to my heart. I wanted that liminal, mysterious feel, a connection to rebirth and the sacred.

Jasmine on the Grave became a resting place for both shadow and light, a place where I can give voice to the moments that mattered and changed me. Like a journal. A confession. A whispered prayer held always in the heart. —Raven

  1. What a beautiful perspective on creativity 🖋💻. You are absolutely right about the importance of finding that perfect balance between creative inspiration and patience. It’s not easy to maintain that equilibrium, especially in today’s fast-paced world where we are bombarded with distractions. But you’re making it a priority to prioritize the subtle moments of inspiration, which will no doubt infuse your blog with richness and depth.

And let’s be honest, the joy you feel from this patient, attentive process will ultimately translate into content that radiates with authenticity and passion.
