I Dug Up My Ghosts

I dug up my ghosts,
shook them loose from the earth,
their roots broken of hold in me.

I freed my mind and learned to feed it what I like—
Spirits’ whisperings—
less clinging to me,
more uplifting.

I sit in discomfort with ease because of the ghosts I know,
but I don’t let them unbalance me anymore.

I let them show me insight into self and others and remind me
my compassion is rich.

They cannot make a home in me.
They can join my cause of love, or get to packing.
